During our recent Challenge Time session, parents were welcomed into the school to join their children in a live maths lesson, offering a unique glimpse into everyday classroom learning.

This initiative gives families the chance to experience the pace, structure and excitement of lessons first hand. It allows parents to see how teachers guide pupils through problem solving and encourages open conversations about learning at home.

This time we visited the Year 5 classroom, where the atmosphere was focused and enthusiastic. Parents worked alongside their children to tackle a range of maths activities designed to stretch thinking and build confidence.

Seeing familiar faces in the classroom created a supportive environment where pupils felt proud to demonstrate their skills. Teachers were also able to share strategies with parents, helping them understand how maths is taught and how they can continue to support learning beyond the school day.

Challenge Time plays an important role in strengthening relationships between families and staff. By opening classroom doors, we encourage trust and transparency while creating shared experiences that benefit everyone involved.

For pupils, learning alongside their parents provides an powerful source of motivation. Children are often more engaged and eager to participate when they can celebrate their achievements together.
