Ofsted Inspection: 2–3 July 2025
We are delighted to share the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection. When inspectors last visited in 2022, the school was judged as Requires Improvement. Since then, the inspection framework has changed. Schools are now reviewed over five distinct categories rather than a single overall grade.
This time, inspectors highlighted significant progress and praised many aspects of our school life, as shown below:
- Quality of Education – Good
- Behaviour and Attitudes – Outstanding
- Personal Development – Good
- Leadership and Management – Good
- Early Years Provision – Outstanding
Behind these headline results, the report recognises the remarkable journey the school has been on. While Ofsted reports are no longer as detailed as they once were, this latest inspection contains some excellent feedback.
From the very beginning, we made it clear that the safety and wellbeing of every pupil is our highest priority. Inspectors recognised this commitment, noting that the school “takes the safety and welfare of pupils very seriously” and confirming that safeguarding measures are effective.
Since September, we have also placed a strong focus on improving the provision for pupils with SEND. The inspection team praised this work, observing that “pupils with SEND receive the support they need to succeed” as well as “have a strong working relationship with peers and staff”.
Inspectors were equally impressed with the wider pupil body, describing their behaviour as “exemplary”. They highlighted how pupils are happy, feel a strong sense of belonging, and take pride in their school. They were seen responding positively to high expectations, achieving well, and built strong working relationships with both their peers and staff.
A key finding of the previous inspection was that pupils were not experiencing a sufficiently broad and rich curriculum. Over the past year, we have taken clear steps to address this, including curriculum information sessions to share our developments with families. The latest report acknowledges that pupils now benefit from an “ambitious and broad curriculum” and their general enjoyment of reading for pleasure.
Beyond the classroom, our commitment to providing enriching opportunities was also recognised. Inspectors highlighted how pupils are encouraged to develop their talents through art, sport and music, demonstrating the school’s determination to nurture the whole child.
This achievement reflects the hard work of our pupils, staff, families and wider community. It’s a testament to the commitment and resilience of the whole SWB community. Together, we have transformed the school into a place where children thrive academically, socially and personally. We are proud that Ofsted has recognised this progress.
