This week, our Year 6 students from Sir William Burrough Primary School had the wonderful opportunity to attend the open morning at St. Paul’s Way Secondary School (SPW), marking an exciting step in their transition to secondary education.

This visit was not only informative but also instrumental in bridging the gap between primary and secondary school life, giving our pupils a first-hand experience of what to expect at SPW.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear that SPW is a school where passion for learning thrives. Our pupils were warmly welcomed by SPW Sixth Form students who played a beautiful piece on the piano. They were then guided on a tour of the school by SPW student representatives.

They had the chance to explore key areas, including the science labs, library, and classrooms, while seeing the fantastic work produced by current SPW students.

What truly stood out was how the visit made our Year 6 pupils feel not only at ease but excited about the idea of moving to secondary school.

They were able to see that SPW is a school that values growth, not just academically but personally, by fostering an environment of support and belonging.

They also had the chance to witness a live science demonstration, engaging subject displays and truly understand how secondary education can be both challenging and exciting.

This visit was a clear demonstration of how we embody the value of growth, ensuring that every student is given the tools to succeed and thrive in the next stage of their academic journey.

By giving our pupils a glimpse into the future, we truly bridged the gap between primary and secondary school, helping them feel confident and motivated about what lies ahead.
