Opening Our New Library

We are thrilled to announce the successful opening of our School’s brand-new Library!

Thanks to the generous support of Aldgate & Allhallows Foundation (AAF) and the National Literacy Trust’s (NLT) Libraries for Primaries campaign, this new space will inspire imagination, foster creativity and ignite a love for reading.

We recently hosted members of both organisations at our grand opening, which saw pupils from across the school get involved in the celebrations.

The day kicked off with a wonderful workshop for our UKS2 pupils  (Years 5 & 6), led by wonderful children’s author Eve Wersocki-Morris, who emphasised the importance of libraries and providing children with the chance to take ownership of their own reading.

Eve said, “Now they can explore new worlds within the books and understand the importance of reading.” Her workshop was full of energy, with children enthusiastically sharing their creative ideas.

Eve spoke passionately to the gathered children and was followed by Karyce (Deputy Headteacher) and our librarian, Amy Lloyd. Amy devoted many hours to ensuring the success of our library launch, and we’d like to thank her for making it such a magical place for pupils to use.

Nearing the end of the main event, we performed the traditional ribbon cutting, with AAF’s Richard Foley (CEO) and Denise Jones (Chair) doing the honours alongside several pupils. Both spoke passionately about the Foundation’s hopes for the library’s impact and their motivations for supporting the NLT’s campaign.

Following the ceremony, pupils took part in several workshops with famed author and illustrator, Rob Biddulph, who commented on their imagination: “Seeing the kids enjoy the workshop and sharing their ideas was truly inspiring.”

We’re incredibly happy to say our new library has already made a positive impact on our pupils. Arifa, Year 6, said, "The library is so nice, not like a normal one!" and Radi, Year 5, couldn’t wait to borrow books, adding, “I’m so excited to read at home!”

This new library represents more than just a space for books, it’s a place where creativity, a passion for reading, and academic growth come together to help our pupils prosper. We look forward to seeing all our pupils thrive as they explore the endless possibilities in this incredible new space.

Thank you to everyone who made this day possible!
